Calla Lily
created by

Calla Lilies - ( Zantedeschia), are native flowers from South Africa. Even though not the most hardy of plants, calla lilies are well-known as long-lasting cut flowers The beautiful Calla Lily was sacred to the ancient Egyptians and Greeks, and during the Renaissance, the Calla was considered symbolic of purity and wisdom.

If you have ever walked around an old neighborhood, chances are you have seen Calla Lilies. These are the old fashioned kind - the big white flowers with their fluted form, bright orange tongue and handsome green foliage.

Where they are happy, Calla Lilies will reproduce freely and have adapted most stunningly to the west coast of the United States,
where they line the cliffs above the sea. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sandy Thomas
