Jan's Rose
& Monarch
created by

The Monarch (Danaus plexippus) is perhaps the flagship butterfly for the United States.
Its central US migration from Mexico to southern Canada is well known as well as it's over wintering areas in south central Mexico. The caterpillars eat plants within the Milkweed Family, which makes these butterflies toxic to any potential predators. The bright orange color is a warning to predators such as bird to beware.
