Mexican Fan palm trees (Washingtonia robusta) have many fine attributes. They are very hardy, low maintenance trees that will withstand temperatures from 15 degrees to the very hot temperatures of the desert. They are also salt and drought resistant, which make them the perfect trees for desert and coastal areas. A very fast growing tree, up to two feet per year, the Mexican Fan palm can reach up to 100 feet tall.
This is a spectacular palm for landscaping. Mexican Fan palm trees are also frequently seen marking the entrances to homes and standing like sentinels along avenues and roadways.
